Bill Belichick Addresses On Not Challenging Bad Spot In Patriots Loss

The New England Patriots finished their Week 6 against the Denver Broncos. Head coach Bill Belichick had nothing to say about the bad spot in the game.

CBS showed a replay after a 2-yard run by James White with 12:56 remaining in the fourth quarter. According to this video, the running back’s knee didn’t even touch the turf until after he went for a first down. Coach Belichick didn’t throw his red challenge flag, and New England punted the ball away to Denver.

Did coach B consider challenging the spot?

“No, not really,” he told media members following the game.

Bill Belichick is clear about the bad spot

Did Belichick get a second look at the play? “I just answered the question.”

Well, it wasn’t really like that. New England had two challenges left. White was convinced that he had the first down.

“I thought I did,” he said. “I thought I had it, but the refs made the call. That’s what they thought they saw.”

New England punted 12:06 left in the fourth quarter of the game. Denver drained a little over 90 secs off the clock before hitting a punt.

Patriots players scored a touchdown with a missed two-point conversion attempt on the next drive. New England had two more possessions, hitting a field goal then turning the football over on downs on the final series.

Well, New England actually lost by one score.

Maybe the Patriots would have lost this game anyway. At some point of the game, this really looked like an easily winnable challenge.

It was a challenging game, and Patriots played it despite the recent development of events. The team placed three players on the reserve/COVID-19 list yesterday, and the NFL didn’t make a change regarding the schedule. Hopefully, there won’t be any other positive tests. The Tennessee Titans faced a lot of challenges at the beginning of the season. NFL players will definitely try to avoid that. Players safety is important now, and the NFL has to do whatever it takes to protect players.

Pats are 2-3 at this point of the season. They need to work on that record.
