Browns Tight End Identified as ‘Plausible’ Trade Target For New England Patriots

The New England Patriots could definitely use some help with the offensive line. The team lacks dynamic players. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton can’t carry the offense all by himself. Head coach Bill Belichick and his coaches will have to find the solution. NFL teams aren’t really scared from the Patriots offense. New England had an awful loss to the Denver Broncos. Well, a talented tight end may be making his way out of his current team, and the Patriots are considered an option.

The Patriots should definitely use Cleveland Browns tight end David Njoku to address some of the offensive problems. Njoku wants the Browns to trade him before the Nov. 3 NFL trade deadline. Several sources confirmed the information, including Mary Kay Cabot from Cleveland.com.

The 2017 first round-pick was brilliant in his first two seasons with the team. However, he missed a big portion of the 2019 season due to an injury. The Browns have reduced his role following the offseason signing of Austin Hooper. Cleveland also drafted Harrison Bryant. In other words, Njoku is far from happy with his situation in Cleveland.

“Tight end David Njoku would still like the Browns to trade him, a league source told cleveland.com on Monday,” Cabot reported. “Njoku, who initially asked to be traded on July 3 but then rescinded the request on Aug. 1, would like to find a new home by the trade deadline on Nov. 3rd. To this point, the Browns haven’t been willing to trade him, but they might be open to it if someone makes them an offer they can’t refuse. The Browns need help at linebacker, safety, and cornerback, and could possibly pick up a starter to help out down the stretch.”

The tight end may be making his way to the Patriots

New England should entertain this option. If Belichick and his team want to go anywhere in 2020, Njoku is the player they need. Ryan Izzo is a great player, but the Patriots need more than that. Devin Asiasi has yet to receive a target. Dalton Keene was unable to make the field.

Some reports suggest that the Patriots have lost confidence in their players. Belichick may not have high expectations from Asiasi and Keene.

Njoku is a talented player and he is a nice fit for the Patriots.
