Cam Newton and Stephon Gilmore’s Playing Status Following Positive COVID-19 Tests

The New England Patriots placed three players on the reserve/COVID-19 list. New England will meet the Denver Broncos at Gillette Stadium and there’s an update on veteran quarterback Cam Newton and his status regarding the COVID-19 situation. Newton, Stephon Gilmore, and Bill Murray earned their spot on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Newton, and Gilmore’s status for the game against Denver. The NFL moved the game from Sunday afternoon to Monday night.

Newton tested positive for COVID-19 right before the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. It was a highly anticipating game for the team, and New England lost to Kansas City.

Gilmore’s test results returned right after the game against the Chiefs. He saw action on the field, and the NFL is waiting to see if there are other positive tests.

Sunday’s game will be played on Monday. The Tennessee Titans and the Buffalo Bills will play their game on Tuesday night. The Titans have a lot of positive tests right now and the situation doesn’t look good at all.

Cam Newton may not have his status for COVID-19 cleared

Newton and Gilmore are on the reserve list, but the Patriots haven’t ruled them out for Monday’s game at Gillette Stadium. Patriots players will have enough time to prepare. Both superstars will get a chance to provide negative results and finish the protocols before joining their teammates.

New England reopened the team facility on Saturday. Players hadn’t practiced all week, and this gives Denver a big advantage. Pats took part in virtual walkthroughs. It’s an awful situation and some players blame the NFL for not taking care of players.

Losing Newton and Gilmore would be a big blow for the Patriots. Gilmore has a key role and Newton had great performance on the field. The 2015 NFL MVP was brilliant in the first three games with the Patriots. He is out now and New England will probably go with second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham. Veteran journeyman Brian Hoyer struggled in the first half of the game in Kansas City and head coach Bill Belichick benched him later in the game.
