Devin McCourty Gives Update On Stephon Gilmore’s Attendance At Workouts

The New England Patriots have had their workouts Wednesday. Players entered the facility in positional waves for workouts. Running back Rex Burkhead spoke from Gillette Stadium at 11.30 a.m. ET. Left tackle Isiaih Wynn didn’t arrive at the facility until noon. Safety Adrian Phillips was att he stadium at 12:30 p.m., and veteran safety Devin McCourty was home before the workouts. He talked at 1 p.m.

Up to 15 players can be in the weight rooms at the same time. Stephon Gilmore was nowhere to be seen at the facility.

“No, I mean he’s still going through the process, so I’m not sure exactly how that works because we’ve all been in it at different times,” McCourty said. “So, I’m not really sure if he’s allowed back in or not. I haven’t talked to him yet today so I guess we have to all see how that works moving forward. I would say, Bill Belichick is probably a better man to ask about that than I am.”

Devin McCourty and other players have their workouts under special conditions

McCourty stayed in touch with teammates on the reserve/COVID-19 list. That’s how virtual meetings work.

“The thing with virtual meetings is everybody’s able to be on virtual meetings,” the veteran added. “Everybody’s able to crack jokes and laugh and then the same thing through our text messages and different things like that. So we’ve been able to — we haven’t cast off anyone that’s tested positive and kind of kick them off the island. They’ve still been with us and been able to hang out as much as we’ve all been able to hang out by looking at a computer screen.”

Gilmore took to his Instagram account to tell everyone that he is ready to see some action. If he doesn’t develop any symptoms and is cleared by Patriots doctors, the veteran should join his teammates for Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

The situation is pretty serious and players need to be careful at this point. A couple of positive tests can change the entire situation and force players to miss too much time.
