Fans Demand Suspension for Lakers Star Anthony Davis
Finishing the NBA Finals with a suspension won’t be the best scenario for Los Angeles Lakers big man Anthony Davis. He reaggravated his ankle injury in Game 5 of the NBA Finals. That’s not the only problem he is facing right now. There’s a video of Davis hitting Miami forward Jae Crowder in the head right after a play. Some fans didn’t like this, and now we have an army of Heat supporters calling for Davis to be suspended.
The NBA won’t issue a suspension for Anthony Davis
Refs didn’t call Davis for a foul in-game. The NBA didn’t even mention this. We don’t really know if this elbow was intentional. However, we do know that Davis doesn’t hit opponents. That’s not his style.
If the league reviews this game, officials can issue the Lakers big man a retroactive technical or flagrant foul. Moreover, Davis can receive hefty fine for his actions. We don’t really believe that the NBA will suspend Davis. It doesn’t fit the nature of this act, and as we mentioned before, Davis is not a hitter.
Well, Heat players won’t agree on this one. Some pointed out Draymond Green’s groin shot in 2016. LeBron was hit in the groin area and Howard missed a game. The NBA suspended Green because he had too many foul points in the series.
In the 2015 playoff run, Lakers guard J.R. Smith was suspended for hitting Crowder. He connected with the strike and the rest is history.
“I want a fair series, don’t get me wrong, but if Draymond was suspended for a slap to Bron’s kingly region in the Finals, this unquestionably should be a suspension on Anthony Davis,” a Heat fan wrote.
“NBA: you have two clear shots that show Anthony Davis purposely punched Crowder in the face. This merits a one-game suspension,” another added.
Miami and LA haven’t released a statement on this play.
Davis was limping in the first half of Friday’s game. He collided with Miami veteran Andre Iguodala and made his way to the bench. The Lakers big man played 42 minutes in the loss to Miami.
