LeBron James’ future with the Los Angeles Lakers might have just been revealed. The Los Angeles Lakers are currently taking on the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals. In what looked like an easy series victory for the Lakers has now turned into a battle. The Lakers are still leading the series 3-2 but the Heat are gaining confidence behind the great play of Jimmy Butler.
But now there are already some questions on LeBron James and his future with this Lakers team. Obviously, this is only year 2 of the LeBron in LA experiment. And so far, it has looked pretty good. He has led this team to an NBA Finals after a pretty disappointing season last year.
LeBron has talked about his feelings on this while in the bubble previously.
“What NBA team would I never play for? I’m still playing, man,” James said. “Hey, I’ve got to keep all my options open, man. But right now I’ll tell you one thing: I don’t want to go nowhere besides be here, baby. Be a Laker for the rest of my life.”
LeBron James’ Future With the Lakers Was Just Potentially Revealed
James is now 35 years old, but that does not mean he is ready to slow it down, He is averaging 25.3 points per game, 7.8 rebounds, and a league-best 10.2 assists in the regular season this year. Match that with 26.9 points per game, 10.5 rebounds, and 8.8 assists in the playoffs and he is the league MVP. At least he should have been.
Brian Windhorst, who knows LeBron as well as anyone, has some interesting thoughts on whether LeBron will retire with the Lakers.
“Probably,” Windhorst said recently on a podcast. “His decision to go to LA … it makes all the sense in the world. It’s not really an emotional decision. It was a personal decision. It was a business decision. Him being a Laker it makes all the sense.”
But LeBron has been cryptic about this in the past.
“Listen, I don’t close the chapter on anything or close the book on anything,” James said back in 2018 on whether or not he would stay in Cleveland.
What do you think he will do?
