NFL Experts Share Their Thoughts on the 2-4 Patriots

The New England Patriots lost three straight games, and the 33-6 loss to the San Francisco 49ers was probably the worst. The team struggled on the field, and the offense was out of control. NFL experts have written off this Patriots team. Pretty much everyone criticized veteran quarterback Cam Newton.

The former 2015 NFL MVP signed a one-year deal with the Patriots in July. Newton threw three interceptions and head coach Bill Belichick decided to bench him. Jarrett Stidham stepped in as a replacement for the veteran.

Analysts are concerned and fans share the same opinion.

“This is concerning now for New England,” ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky told “Get Up!” on Monday. “I thought because of the COVID layoff for two weeks he might bounce back, but mechanically he looks flawed. He doesn’t look comfortable or confident in the pocket, and this offense is as bad as I thought it could ever be in New England.”

NFL experts blame Patriots quarterback Cam Newton

Newton is a brilliant player, but his rusty performance in the past couple of games shocked everyone. New England signed a talented player and Newton struggles on the field. He recognized the mistakes he made on the field. If he keeps playing this way, the Patriots will deliver the biggest ‘no.’

“I love Cam Newton, but this is not Cam Newton,” former coach Rex Ryan said after Orlovsky. “I mean not the guy that we remember. It was fool’s gold in Week 2. We all saw that and said he looks great. No, Seattle gives up 500 yards a game. What we’re seeing now is a guy that has poor mechanics.”

The Patriots offense struggled and it was awful. Ryan took notice of the struggles offensive players had.

“It’s just awful,” Ryan said. “For three years now I think I’ve been saying how awful the talent is there. I don’t need Next Gen Stats even though they exist. There’s no separation, so guys can’t get open. He can’t him them even if they are open. This is a disaster right now in New England.”

Ryan’s brother, Rob, blames the entire team. He told Peter King that he had never seen worse run defense on the perimeter.
