Patriots Star Has A Very Clear Message For The NFL

Veteran quarterback Cam Newton tested positive Friday, and the NFL moved the game against Kansas City from Sunday afternoon to Monday night. The New England Patriots lost the game, and that’s not the only problem players have right now. Superstar cornerback Stephon Gilmore tested positive, too. The NFL had to move Sunday’s game against Denver to Monday night. Head coach Bill Belichick is not really worried about the situation, and he always has a backup plan. How will players treat this situation? Patriots veteran Devin McCourty delivered a loud message for the NFL. We bet many fans would agree with him on this one.

Patriots veteran McCourty delivers a message for the NFL and fans

When asked if he is worried about playing games and practicing during the typical incubation period, McCourty pointed to the NFL and the NFLPA.

“If you get a chance to talk to the NFL or the NFLPA, we would greatly appreciate you bringing up that point and letting them know,” he said. “That’s something we talk about, and we’re dealing with it, we’re moving forward. It’s obviously in the back of our minds, and I think that’s why we’re trying to do everything we can. We’re distanced. Even today while we were in, we’re totally distanced. We all had masks on. We all have the Oakley shields on or we have a mask underneath our helmet. Weren’t in the building really at all today. So we’re doing the necessary things to stay as safe as possible.”

McCourty speaks on behalf of his teammates

This was definitely a big message. McCourty spoke on behalf of his teammates and other players will agree with him. Players safety is important now, and the NFL has to pay close attention to the situation.

“I guess the best answer I can give you. But without a doubt, that’s a thought. The same way you guys are sitting there thinking about it like, ‘Hey, they’re getting on a plane on Monday. Well, those days don’t really add up from the incubation period.’ Those were the same questions we were asking our union before we headed out there. But you guys saw, we took off, and we played in the game, and we came back. So as players, we’re trying to control what we can control, and at the same time – especially me, and I know Devin McCourty and Matthew Slaters, as older guys, we’re trying  to continue to push the envelope and hold everybody accountable and make sure that they have our best interest in mind.”

NFL fans are worried

The incubation period for coronavirus is 3-5 days. However, it takes two weeks for some people to develop the virus and any potential symptoms.

The NFL didn’t rearrange the schedule, but officials have to be careful about the incubation period. Players’ health is in danger. Losing a few superstars or an entire team would definitely mark the end of the season for some teams. New England has three players on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Patriots players will meet the Denver Broncos on Monday. It’s a home game for the team.
