Patriots’ Stephon Gilmore Reacts To His Positive COVID-19 Test

The New England Patriots may not have Stephon Gilmore on the field on Sunday as he tested positive for COVID-19. For the second time in a few days, the Patriots have announced that one of their star players tested positive for coronavirus. Gilmore won’t join the team in the near future. He is symptomatic and from what we can see, the veteran cornerback is definitely in a good mood. Will his test cause an outbreak in the team?

Gilmore feels great and that’s probably the only thing that matters right now.

“Thank you to everyone who has reached out since hearing about my positive COVID-19 test,” Gilmore wrote on Twitter. “Your messages aren’t unseen and are greatly appreciated. I’m currently asymptomatic and will take this as it comes. I don’t know what to expect, but my spirit is high because of God. I’ve followed every protocol, yet it happened to me. Please be sure to take this seriously.”

Will he return in the near future?

“The Gilly Lock is going to sit down until the medical professionals let me know it’s best to continue normal activity,” Gilmore wrote.

Stephon Gilmore is not the only player to test positive for COVID-19

The Patriots will probably struggle without their veteran cornerback. Pats players will welcome the Denver Broncos at Gillette Stadium. Having Gilmore on the field would be of great help for the Patriots. His aggressive approach can literally block one side of the field.

Gilmore will have to have two negative tests at least 24 hours apart. The team doctor should clear Gilmore before head coach Bill Belichick reinstates him.

New England has two positive players so far. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton tested positive right before the Week 3 game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The team placed him on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Bill Murray found his place on this list, too.

Patriots fans hope to have Gilmore back on the field in the near future. He is a key player and playing without him is an unacceptable scenario. Hopefully, coach Belichick will have his players back on the field.
