Patriots vs Broncos Game Rescheduled After Latest Positive COVID Case

The New England Patriots vs the Denver Broncos game has been rescheduled. This is now the second game in a row that has been postponed due to concerns regarding COVID. It started when Cam Newton tested positive with the virus. As a result, the Patriots game with the Kansas City Chiefs was postponed one day. Newton was obviously absent from the game which made the offense struggle.

The Patriots started off the season pretty strong with a good showing against the Miami Dolphins. It seemed like things were starting to click with Cam Newton at the helm. Unfortunately, this COVID situation has forced them to take a step back.

Bill Belichick talked about how the organization is dealing with this recently.

“I feel like I had to make the decisions on what’s best for our football team, and what’s best for our football team is the health and safety of our team,” Belichick said. “That’s our No. 1 priority. Without that, we don’t have a team. We have to maintain the integrity of not only our football team, but also the extended team — our families and the loved ones for every member of our team. That’s got to come first. And I think everybody recognizes that, feels the same way.”

But it is now official. This week’s game has once again been postponed by the NFL.

“The Denver Broncos at New England Patriots game scheduled for Monday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m. ET has been postponed. Details on a new game date and time will be announced shortly. Both teams will now have a Week 5 bye.”

“This decision was made to ensure the health and safety of players, coaches and game day personnel and in consultation with medical experts.“

The Patriots were going to have their bye week during Week 6 this season. Their bye week is now going to come a bit early.

The Patriots will get through this but it is definitely going to be tough couple of weeks. Hopefully they are able to get back on track soon. Newton’s return will be huge for the offense and the confidence of the team.
