Report: Cam Newton Already Set to Return to Practice After COVID-19 Saga

The New England Patriots had four players on the reserve/COVID-19 list. Veteran quarterback Cam Newton is the first player to test positive for COVID-19. He missed some time on the field, and New England also played without star cornerback Stephon Gilmore.

ESPN’s Field Yates reported the quarterback will probably rejoin his teammates in Thursday’s practice.

Newton has an incredible career with the Patriots. His solid start got fans confused. Most analysts thought that Newton would never fit in Bill Belichick’s system. Well, the 2015 NFL MVP did that and much more. He may not be a young, talented guy, but he definitely has some insane skills and running skills.

The Patriots signed Newton for a reason and he is here to make doubters wrong.

The veteran’s test returned positive the Saturday before the trip to Kansas City. It was a big blow for the Patriots, and the NFL moved the game.

Cam Newton feels great after the COVID-19 test

Gilmore’s test returned positive a few days after Newton got his and right after the Patriots lost to the Chiefs. A few other positive tests pushed the game to Week 6. Week 5 was a bye for the Patriots.

According to recent reports, Newton feels great. New England will probably have him on the field this week.

Talented Newton signed a one-year deal with the Patriots. He gave the team a reason to celebrate. It was more than obvious that Newton was back to his old self. This guy won an NFL MVP award, remember? Bill Belichick and his team saw some of that in the first few games of the season.

Newton rushed for two touchdowns in each of the Patriots’ first two games. He shut down the Seattle Seahawks for about 400 yards passing. He didn’t have his best performance in Week 3, but his teammates were incredible. As you may have noticed, New England is able to win games even when Newton is not playing his best football.

The Patriots struggled to move the ball in Kansas City. Veteran quarterback Brian Hoyer threw an interception and second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham hit one TD pass.
