Report: Patriots Interested in Pass-Catcher As Deadline Nears

There is a report coming out what the Patriots are interested in a particular pass-catcher as the deadline nears. The Patriots are in need of something on the offensive side of the ball, that is certain. Ever since the COVID positives, they have started to struggle. Bill Belichick talked about this and what they were doing to get back on track recently.

“Today’s an important day in our preparation for the Broncos,” Belichick said. “We’ve had several days now of virtual meetings between the staff members and from the staff to the players. We’ve been able to cover a lot of things, but we haven’t spent any time together, so today’s our opportunity to do that. We look forward to that. One thing that we’ve learned this year repeatedly has been we have to be ready to adjust and adapt to changes and modifications and the way we do things and, in some cases, decisions that really come down to a very short amount of time that we have to be ready to adjust to.

“So we’re certainly taking things day by day — probably hour by hour would be more accurate. We’ll just see how we progress and then as we find out more on our end, or if there are other things externally that we can’t control that, then we’ll deal with those as they come. That’s the way it’s been all year. I think our team and our players have done a good job of handling those adjustments, and we’ll continue to do that.”

Report: Patriots Interested in Pass-Catcher As Deadline Nears

But it looks like they have some interest in a pass catcher before the deadline.

The Patriots are looking for a pass-catcher before the Nov. 3 NFL trade deadline, according to sources. They are looking at Adam Thielen and Will Fuller as targets. However, they haven’t said if the Patriots have looked at either.

Take a look:

“It’s the same thing as it was before,” a scout told La Canfora. “(Julian) Edelman is slowing down and isn’t going to give you the YAC like he could before. They don’t get anything out of their tight ends at all in the passing game, and they don’t do anything deep, because they can’t. The line is all over the place from a personnel standpoint. There’s only so much you can do with that cast of characters.”

And also from an NFL Exec:

“It’s the worst group of skill players in the NFL, and you should probably put skill players in quotes. That has to be the slowest offense in the league.”
