Report: Patriots Linked to Available Former NFL MVP Quarterback

The Patriots have been linked to a possible trade destination for former NFL MVP quarterback. The Patriots have been trying to bounce back from a couple of players who have tested positive for COVID-19. One of those players was quarterback Cam Newton who had to miss a game last week. But according to Bill Belichick, they are taking this slowly.

“Today’s an important day in our preparation for the Broncos,” Belichick said. “We’ve had several days now of virtual meetings between the staff members and from the staff to the players. We’ve been able to cover a lot of things, but we haven’t spent any time together, so today’s our opportunity to do that. We look forward to that. One thing that we’ve learned this year repeatedly has been we have to be ready to adjust and adapt to changes and modifications and the way we do things and, in some cases, decisions that really come down to a very short amount of time that we have to be ready to adjust to.

“So we’re certainly taking things day by day — probably hour by hour would be more accurate. We’ll just see how we progress and then as we find out more on our end, or if there are other things externally that we can’t control that, then we’ll deal with those as they come. That’s the way it’s been all year. I think our team and our players have done a good job of handling those adjustments, and we’ll continue to do that.”

Report: Patriots Linked to Available Former NFL MVP Quarterback

But despite Cam Newton on the up and up and good play, the Patriots are looking at a former NFL MVP to sign. Matt Ryan is available. Lots is going on in Atlanta. Owner of the team Arthur Blank has fired HC Quinn and general manager Thomas Dimitroff after the Falcons got off to an terrible 0-5 start.

Here is what he said at his press conference.

“I love Matt, much like I love Dan [Quinn], I love Thomas [Dimitroff]. Matt’s been a franchise leader for us. A great quarterback. One of the leading quarterbacks in the last 13 years in the NFL. So I hope he’s gonna be part of our plans going forward. But that will be a decision that I won’t make. You know, Matt has the ability to play at a very high level, even at this age. Whether that’s gonna continue or not, I’m not sure.”

“I appreciate his willingness to consider doing that, and the level of what he’s played for us for 13 years, which has been incredible. So I — we’ll have to see. But then again that’s gonna be a decision at the end of the day that’ll be — part of it will be up to the player and part of it will be up to the coaching staff. And whether or not Matt can keep himself together and God willing he’ll be able to do that and play at the level that he’s capable of playing at.”

Do you think the Patriots have a chance here?
