Report: Patriots’ Stephon Gilmore Tests Positive For COVID-19

Stephon Gilmore has now been the next New England Patriots player who has tested positive for COVID-19. The New England Patriots are coming off a pretty disappointing loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Monday. The game was postponed due to quarterback Cam Newton testing positive for COVID as well. But since no one else tested positive, the game was able to be played one day later.

It was unfortunate timing for the Patriots who were looking very good going into their clash with the Chiefs. The Chiefs, being one of the best teams in the NFL, were able to take advantage of the Patriots. Missing Newton definitely hurt the Patriots in this game. Newton has been great, just take a look at what Bill Belichick has said about him in the past.

“He’s come in and do everything we’ve asked him to do,” Belichick said back in August. “He works had. He’s obviously a very talented player and looking forward to continue to work with him. We’ll just take it day-by-day, but he’s given us everything he’s had and we’ve tried to put the team in the best position we can competitively. We’ll see how that all comes out. I’m sure a lot of things will change as the season goes along. We are where we are for right now and just keep trying to get better every day.”

Report: Patriots’ Stephon Gilmore Tests Positive For COVID-19

Sadly, it might be getting worse instead of better for now. Now, the Patriots best defensive player has tested positive for COVID. Now Stephon Gilmore has cause the virus. This could spell massive trouble.

Gilmore’s status definitely spells trouble for Sunday’s Week 5 matchup between the Patriots and Denver Broncos. If the game goes on as scheduled, Gilmore will not be playing. All players who test positive must sit out for at least 5 days and possibly more.

This is trouble for the Patriots. These are both two of the best players on the team so missing them will hurt heavily. What do you think about this news? Do you think he will play?
