Stephon Gilmore Among Nine Limited In Latest Patriots Practice

The New England Patriots had their Thursday practice, and the injury report doesn’t look good at all. Head coach Bill Belichick and his team will have to do good thinking at this point in the season. The team added star cornerback Stephon Gilmore to the injury report due to his knee injury. The veteran saw limited action, and this is his first time on the Patriots injury report.

Gilmore was a full participant in Wednesday’s session. The reigning NFL Defensive Player of the Year has a key role with the Patriots, but he seems to be dealing with a nagging injury.

Three Patriots players miss Thursday’s practice

Outside linebacker Shilique Calhoun found his spot on the injury report and he is dealing with a knee ailment. Calhoun saw limited action in Thursday’s practice.

OLB Shilique Calhoun (knee)
S Kyle Dugger (ankle)
CB Stephon Gilmore (knee)
DT Lawrence Guy (ankle)
RB Damien Harris (ankle)
OL Justin Herron (ankle)
G Shaq Mason (calf)
OLB John Simon (shoulder)
G Joe Thuney (ankle)

It’s interesting to note that wideouts Julian Edelman and N’Keal Harry and defensive tackle Carl Davis didn’t take part in the practice. Edelman underwent a surgery to fix his knee, and Harry sustained a concussion. Davis has a concussion, too.

Harry and Davis sat out Wednesday’s session. Veteran wideout Edelman will have to miss Sunday’s match against the Buffalo Bills. He may miss more time on the field due to his procedure.

Harry and Edelman rank second and third among the Patriots’ wideouts in snaps played in 2020. If they miss Week 8, New England will play with Damiere Byrd, Jakobi Meyers, and Gunner Olszewski. Isaiah Zuber, Kristian Wilkerson, and Mason Kinsey may join the team from the Patriots practice squad.

The Patriots are entering a challenging phase of the season. They are dealing with too many injuries right now and players really hope to break the losing cycle. Head coach Belichick and his players have lost three straight games. Winning a game against the Bills seems like a mission impossible right now.
