Update Emerges on 2021 All-Star Game Status

The coronavirus has affected the entire world, and the NBA had to reorganize the season and finish it in Orlando. The upcoming season may start a little earlier than most fans would expect. The pandemic has also affected the 2021 All-Star game.

It’s a difficult situation and the league has to make some big decisions. How will they reschedule the upcoming season? The pandemic is still here, and the new target date for the start of the regular season is around Christmas Day. What about the Olympic Games?

The 2021 All-Star Game to go off

Adrian Wojnarowski and Brian Windhorst believe that the 2021 All-Star Game may not find a spot on the schedule.

“Amid the coronavirus pandemic, the NBA is proposing several changes to next season that includes a 72-game regular season, a play-in tournament and the likelihood of no All-Star Game and All-Star Weekend in Indianapolis, sources said. The league is considering a two-week break at the midway point of the season, sources said.”

The NBA All-Star Weekend hasn’t been canceled since 1999. NBA Commissioner Adam Silver said he is focused on a standard league format with an 82-game regular season and postseason. Hopefully, players will be able to play in home arenas and in front of fans.

Fans may not be able to attend games that soon. The NFL has introduced safety protocols that allow a limited number of fans inside the arenas. Silver explained that rapid testing may be important in this aspect. He said, “I’m hopeful that as we continue to study advancements in testing that, for example, rapid testing could make a big difference in terms of our ability to potentially get fans in buildings.”

NBA players finished the season under specific circumstances. Playing inside the bubble was really challenging for some players. They had to deal with some mental struggles. Let’s hope that the situation will improve in the next few months. Players can’t wait to play in front of crowds. They played in empty arenas and it was bad.
