Watch: Jarrett Stidham Throw First NFL Touchdown To N’Keal Harry

The New England Patriots arrived in Kansas City to win the game against the Chiefs. It’s a really challenging game and Kansas City welcomed a completely different team. The defending Super Bowl champions definitely didn’t expect to have second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham throw his first touchdown at Arrowhead.

Three months after Tom Brady signed with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the Patriots looked super ready to replace him with the 2019 backup.

Stidham is a fourth-round draft selection from Auburn. He played only 15 offensive snaps in his rookie campaign but led the AFC in passing yards, touchdown passes, and passing-efficiency rating in the 2019 preseason.

New England signed former Auburn quarterback Cam Newton hoping that his foot injury won’t affect his performance. Newton won the training camp competition and Belichick named him the starting quarterback for the team.

Jarrett Stidham surprised fans with his first touchdown

Hoyer was a backup quarterback for Newton in the Patriots’ first three games. Stidham didn’t join his teammates in each of these games as he designated as inactive.

However, Newton tested positive for coronavirus and the Patriots placed him on the reserve/COVID-19 list on Saturday. This gave Hoyer an advantage and he stepped in as a replacement for Newton. But, Stidham and his TD pas turned out to be a good match, and Belichick may give him a chance to hit more of these shots.

Hoyer is a good player, too. He has been part of the Patriots in six of his 12 NFL seasons. The veteran has started 38 NFL regular-season games, and each of these happened with a different team. In his past 10 starts, Hoyer’s team lost. He had three with the Chicago Bears in 2016, six with the San Francisco 49ers in 2017, and one with the Indianapolis Colts in 2019.

Stidham was out of sight this season, but this touchdown is definitely putting him in the bigger picture. Some analysts even predicted that this game will give him a chance to become a starter. Will Stidham follow Tom Brady’s steps and become the GOAT?
