Adam Gase Passes On Interesting Conversations With Bill Belichick

New York Jets head coach Adam Gase has an interesting relationship with New England Patriots head coach Bill Belichick. They may be rivals on the football field, but Gase and Belichick have nothing but respect for each other.

The whole thing started when the Miami Dolphins removed Gase from his coaching position after the 2018 season.

Belichick called Gase to talk about his next move and that’s when their friendship was born. The Patriots head coach offered his words of support for Gase and it was brilliant. Gase will always remember this.

“After I left Miami, he called me and we had a discussion about that ending and seeing what I was going to do moving forward,” Gase said. “That was kind of the starting point there. We just had a conversation to kind of just see what my next steps were going to be. I was very appreciative. Not ever having a conversation (with Belichick) except for after games, which were usually short when I was in Miami, to be able to have a conversation with him and kind of hear his experiences and how to go about things moving forward, he didn’t have to go out of his way to do that. I thought that was somebody that was great for me to hear from.”

Adam Gase respects Bill Belichick

Gase started his coaching career as Belichick’s assistant. He is a great friend of Nick Saban too. Michigan State and LSU were happy to have him. Gase was wide receivers coach with the Denver Broncos in 2009 and 2010 when New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels was head coach.

This story may come like a surprise to those who feed on the rivalry between New England and Miami. Belichick respects great coaches and he definitely respects Gase. The same applies to the Jets head coach. This friendship will keep thriving in the future. Belichick and Gase will try to defeat their opponents. Will they meet in the playoffs?
