Bill Belichick Gives Update On Patriots’ New Additions As Week 10 Begins

The New England Patriots added two players on the trade deadline day. These players are expected to join their new teammates for practice this week. Patriots head coach Bill Belichick shared his thoughts on the two additions – wide receiver Isaiah Ford and defensive tackle Isaiah Mack. According to him, they have finished their coronavirus testing requirements.

“Both of those players are now, I would say, working into our system, yes,” the head coach said.

NFL rules require newly added players to test negative for COVID-19 for five straight days.

New England got Ford through a trade deal last Tuesday. The team sent a conditional 2022 sixth-round draft pick to the Miami Dolphins. They claimed Mack off waivers from the Tennessee Titans that day.

Patriots coach Bill Belichick discusses the two new additions

Coach Belichick appeared on 98.5 The Sports Hub’s pregame show Monday night. When asked about Ford, he said that playing under former Patriots assistant Chad O’Shea in Miami would be of great help for the player.

“For Ford, that’s a good point,” Belichick told host Scott Zolak. “He was with Chad last year. He can recall a lot of the terminology that they had. It’s not exactly the same, but it’s certainly close. It’s not like starting over again. Again, we haven’t had a chance to work with him. We’ve talked to him, but hopefully, he’ll be able to pick things up in a timely way, and we’ll see if we can get him ready as soon as possible.”

New England defeated the New York Jets 30-27 on Monday to break their losing streak. Ford and Mack will probably make their debuts with the Patriots this Sunday. It’s a game against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Patriots deal with too many injuries right now. Several players will spend some time on the sidelines. Julian Edelman recovers from his knee procedure. N’Keal Harry suffered a concussion in Week 8. The team is pretty thin at tight end. They also need some help with their receiving unit. Let’s see how will things develop for the Patriots in the next few weeks. They did win last night’s game after all. There’s still hope for Belichick and his players.
