Chris Broussard Gives His Take on Possibility of Giannis Antetokounmpo Joining the Lakers

The Milwaukee Bucks pulled out several major moves this offseason in an effort to motivate small forward Giannis Antetokounmpo to sign a max deal. The NBA MVP and Defensive Player of the Year was linked to several major teams, including the Los Angeles Lakers. Imagine Giannis joining the Lakers! That would have been the biggest signing in the offseason. Pairing Giannis with LeBron would have been crazy. Anthony Davis is working on his deal with the Lakers, and he would gladly join the duo in the bid for another title.

The Bucks did their best to make Giannis sign a five-year max extension with the franxhise. According to some sources, NBA big man Davis was waiting for Giannis to sign his deal. The same source suggests that Davis was delaying the signing of his deal because he wanted to wait and see what happens with Giannis’ deal.

Giannis won’t be signing with the Lakers

Chris Broussard talked to Skip Bayless and Shannon Sharpe to discuss the possibility. There have been too many rumors of Giannis’ potential trip to LA. He would have great success alongside the NBA Finals MVP. Giannis had a great season, and the same applies to LeBron and Davis. The Los Angeles Lakers won the title in Orlando, and they are on their way to win another title.

Recent reports reveal that Giannis will sign a supermax deal with the Bucks this offseason. He will sign a five-year extension worth $247.3 million with a $42.6m, $46m, $49.5m, $52.9m, and $56.3 million cap hit.

Prior to the Orlando bubble, the four-time NBA All-Star averaged 29.6 points on 54.7 percent shooting, 13.7 rebounds, 5.8 assists, 1.0 steals and 1.0 blocks in just 30.9 minutes per game.

If you ask Bayless, he will say that LeBron needs Giannis to win a title.

“I don’t think it’s on the Lakers’ radar, I think it’s on LeBron James’ radar. Lebron James needs AD and Giannis to catch Michael Jordan, that’s what’s about to happen. I do not doubt it for one second because he needs to get to six.”
