The Los Angeles Lakers signed several key players this offseason. General manager Rob Pelinka brought Marc Gasol, Montrezl Harrell, Dennis Schroder, and a few other players to the roster. He won’t stop here, and signing Anthony Davis to a long-term deal is a top priority for the Lakers GM.
Davis has yet to sign his deal with the Lakers. Reports reveal that both parties are working on the details. It’s more than obvious that Davis is getting ready for his second season with the Lakers. However, some fans like to spread rumors about his potential offseason move. Most of them are focused on Davis’ salary and the length of his deal.
Former Lakers veteran Danny Green had something to say about this. According to his most recent post, Davis and the Lakers may be a done deal.
Anthony Davis has great options about his Lakers deal
Green joined the Philadelphia 76ers and his Instagram story got people confused. It’s deleted now. It may be just a tiny tease. It may be a big deal. The only thing we can do is wait and see what happens next with Davis’ deal.
This story has two sides. Davis has two options. He may sign a max deal worth $189 million. It’s the perfect scenario for the team. LeBron James will become an unrestricted free agent after the 2021-22 season and he may retire. Signing Davis to a five-year deal would give the Lakers a chance to win games with an elite superstar on the roster. Davis would be around for a while, and LA will build the roster around him.
According to the second option, Davis will sign a three-year deal worth $106 million. He has a player option for the 2022-23 season. This puts him in the same position in LeBron James.
Davis will be front and center as the face of the team. LA will have to make the right decision about him. He is the ultimate superstar and LA needs him. How much will the Lakers front office pay this time? Davis deserves a big deal.
