Danny Green Trade to be Discussed by Lakers

The Los Angeles Lakers are expected to trade for a third superstar. They have LeBron James and Anthony Davis on top of the list. Adding a third big name seems like a good idea. Trading for a superstar is a big move, and the Lakers will have to give up on a few players and draft picks. Who is the first to go? Danny Green has been part of a recent trade rumor. According to this, he will only last one season on the Lakers roster.

SNY’s Ian Begley reported that the Lakers will discuss Green trades with teams interested in his skills.

“Something to keep an eye on: per sources, the Lakers will discuss Danny Green trades with teams that have interest.”

Danny Green to find his name on the trade block

The shooting guard inked a two-year deal worth $30 million in the summer of 2019. He earned $14.6 million in 2019-20 and will earn another $15 million in 2020-21.

Green averaged 8.0 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 1.3 assists per game with the Lakers this past season. The three-time NBA champion shot 41.6 percent from the field, 36.7 percent from beyond the arc and 68.8 percent from the free throw line in the regular season.

Los Angeles won the title in Orlando following the big win over the Miami Heat. The team has been linked to Chris Paul, DeMar DeRozan, Dennis Schröder, and Derrick Rose. If LA gets a trade deal, Green will earn his spot on the trade block.

Davis will become an unrestricted free agent after he declines his player option. Most analysts believe that Davis will re-sign with the Lakers.

Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka will cover Davis, and he will probably be super aggressive on the open market. He won’t give up on his superstar. LeBron needs him to win games, and Davis has an important role on the Lakers roster.

It will be a wild offseason for the Lakers. They are champions and we do believe that players will do their best to replicate their success in 2020-21.
