Deshaun Watson Explains Why Patriots’ Cam Newton is His Favorite QB

New England Patriots veteran quarterback Cam Newton made a big impact on some of the young talents in the league. Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson was super excited about his game against the Patriots quarterback. The talented quarterback also said that he has looked up to Newton and had a great time watching him at Auburn. Houston Texans star Deshaun Watson also praised Newton, calling him his “favorite QB.”

In his interview with media members, Watson said Newton was his favorite quarterback.

“Cam is a big brother to me, a mentor since high school. He’s a guy I based my game at a young age around what he did. He was a reason why I watched Auburn. He’s always been my favorite quarterback.”

Newton and Watson met many years ago. Watson joined Newton’s all-star team, and they got really close. The Texans player was committed to Clemson and Newton wanted him to go to Auburn. Newton actually showed Newton how to be a professional quarterback at NFL level.

“We got selected to his all-star team. That’s when we got close. I was committed to Clemson and he wanted me to go to Auburn. He showed me how to be a professional quarterback at this level. He spoke everything into existence.”
