Former Patriots Executive Offers Advice To Cam Newton Following QB’s Struggles

A former Patriots executive offers a bit of advice to Cam newton following his QB struggles this season. The Patriots are off to a slow start this season. After what looked like a promising start, they have taken quite the step back it seems. Will they be able to bounce back?

This comes up to who they are able to add. Bill Belichick recently talked about adding a couple of names to the roster.

“We felt like both players could add depth at two positions we feel like we could use the depth at,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said Wednesday in a video conference. “One claim, one trade. We’ll see. We won’t really be able to do anything with these players for another week, so we’ll see what happens then.”

“We have various ways of trying to do our research on all players,” Belichick said when asked if the Patriots solicited insight from any of their Miami connections or from Bolden, who opted out of the season due to coronavirus concerns. “… Whatever opportunities we have to research and gain information on players, that’s what we do.”

Former Patriots Executive Offers Advice To Cam Newton Following QB’s Struggles

Scott Pioli is not ready yet to give up on the 2020 New England Patriots, or their starting quarterback.

There isn’t much reason for optimism in Foxboro at the moment. Unfortunately, the Patriots have lost four consecutive games. Their latest defeat was against the Buffalo Bills, who reaped the benefits of Cam Newton’s back-breaking, late-game fumble in Week 8.

Technically, The New England Patriots still have a chance of reaching the playoffs and Pioli appears to believe it’s in the realm of possibility. The former New England executive believes this mission starts with Newton staying within himself.

“Listen, Cam Newton is not a bad NFL quarterback,” Pioli said Tuesday on NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.” “I think he has to understand that. He can’t let this creep into his head and make him become a bad player. He has to do his part, not try to do too much and they might have a chance. The other thing is, they’re now seven games in and they’ve got a chance. Josh McDaniels knows at this point exactly what Cam Newton can do well and what he can’t do well, what the limitations are now at this phase in his career. So the time is now for the Patriots, for Cam Newton, for Josh McDaniels — for all them — to get things corrected and get it in the right direction.”
