Insider Reveals Lakers’ Plans For Dwight Howard And Markieff Morris

The Los Angeles Lakers will be pretty busy this offseason. They have already traded for Dennis Schroder. Rajon Rondo will opt-out, and Anthony Davis declined his players option. What about Dwight Howard and Markieff Morris?

General Manager Rob Pelinka will do his best to get Davis back on the roster for the upcoming season. After they finish this issue, the Lakers front office will probably focus on Howard and Morris.

Broderick Turner from the Los Angeles Times reports that the Lakers will try really hard to bring both Howard and Morris back on the floor.

“The Lakers are interested in retaining free agents Dwight Howard and Markieff Morris after both had strong seasons and playoff outings.”

Dwight Howard and Markieff Morris are important for the Lakers

Howard surprised everyone with his performance in the bubble. He was a dependable player off the Lakers bench and even got into the starting lineup in the NBA Finals in Orlando. If his value doesn’t go too high, the Lakers will do their best to keep Howard.

Morris was the best in-season deal Los Angeles signed this past season. The talented plaeyr was strong from three in the postseason, and Vogel gave him a lot of minutes in the rotation. Morris helped his market with his playoff numbers, but his time with the Lakers will probably change his mind.

Davis will be one of the best free agents in the past ten years. However, no one is really talking about his next move. This may have something to do with the fact that most experts expect Davis to return to the Lakers.

“The consensus among NBA league executives is that Davis will return to the Lakers after opting out of a deal that would have paid him $28.7 million.”

Davis had a good time with the Lakers, and he will probably stay here for a while. Los Angeles is ready to give Davis a lot of money to keep him around LeBron James. But, Davis may not commit to the team long-term. His contract will probably match LeBron’s deal. The four-time NBA champion will have to leave at some point.

Wesley Matthews was also a target for the Lakers. He is the perfect replacement for Danny Green.
