Julian Edelman Has Advice For Jakobi Meyers After Patriots WR’s TD Pass

Patriots wideout Jakobi Meyers stole the show with his TD pass in Sunday’s 23-17 win over the Baltimore Ravens. Fellow wideout Julian Edelman took notice of the pass and he had the perfect reaction to it.

The 2018 Super Bowl MVP took to his Instagram account to deliver advice for Meyers. Edelman hasn’t seen any action since Week 7. He was bugged with a knee injury and had to undergo surgery to fix it. According to starting quarterback Cam Newton, Edelman will return by the end of this season. Head coach Bill Belichick is also an optimist. Although some NFL analysts believe this procedure marked the end of Edelman’s season, Patriots players believe their teammate will join them in the near future.

Edelman is a key player on the Patriots roster and the Patriots will deinitely love to see him back in the game.

Jakobi Meyers surprises Pats fans with a TD pass

Let’s go back to Meyers’ touchdown pass. The Patriots turned to a quarterback-turned-wideout for a nice play late in the second quarter of their game against Baltimore. Patriots were trailing 10-7 with 1:10 left before halftime. Meyers received a lateral from Newton to the left side and released a nice pass to running back Rex Burkhead in the end zone. It was a beautiful touchdown. Burkhead had to adjust his route to make the delivery.

Next Gen Stats reveal that Meyers’ pass had an air distance of 43.6. This is the second-longest air distance by a Patriot in 2020. Newton delivered 54.4 yards to Edelman in Week 2. Meyers’ pass was also the longest on a touchdown.

The talented wideout was a high school quarterback who joined NC State but became a receiver in his redshirt freshman season in 2016. Meyers grew up in Georgia and made the all-star team of Newton’s charitable foundation. In other words, Newton and Meyers have been working together for a few years.

Patriots use Edelman in such trick plays. He was a quarterback at Kent State and then became a wideout with the Patriots. The team placed him on injured reserve.
