Key Lakers Veteran Makes Big Change Ahead of Free Agency

The Los Angeles Lakers will see some major changes in the upcoming free agency. Several veterans will probably leave the team and sign with a different team. LeBron James, Kyle Kuzma and Alex Caruso won’t go anywhere in the near future. In other words, 11 Lakers players will hit free agency in the upcoming period. Some of these players have player options and we don’t really know whether they will opt-out.

Markieff Morris is one of the veteran Lakers who is in no way linked to the Los Angeles Lakers. Nothing ties him to the team. Morris is one of the Lakers’ most reliable 3-point shooters in the postseason. Morris had a big role in the title-winning team. He likes the Lakers and the front office likes him too. Will Morris re-sign with the team.

Los Angeles Lakers to see major changes in free agency

Morris and his brother Marcus have changed agents. Adrian Wojnarowski from ESPN reported that the brothers have signed Chafie Fields of Wasserman.

Fields has a big role in the NFL. How will he handle the situation in the NBA? Markieff and Marcus are free agents and have the same agent. This doesn’t mean they will play together. The Los Angeles Clippers had an awful season and they changed the head coach. Maybe Marcus would be interested in changing his team, too.

Markieff enjoyed his game with LeBron and the rest of the guys on the Lakers roster. He won a ring, remember? The new agent may be interested in giving his client a nice deal. Markieff had a good postseason and he may get that.

Anthony Davis, Avery Bradley, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, and JaVale McGee are on this list. Rajon Rondo will probably opt-out and we don’t know whether he will sign with another team. Rondo may try to get a bigger role with another team. Dion Waiters and JR Smith are free agents and the Lakers may not get these two back on the roster. Both players had a minor role in the playoff run. Let’s see how will things go for the Lakers and their talented veteran players.
