Lakers Interested in Trade for Wizards’ Elite 3-Point Shooter

The Los Angeles Lakers won the 2020 NBA championship and now is the perfect time to adjust the roster to perfection. Several players will probably join different teams, leaving the Lakers with a lot of options. The team has been linked with several players, and Chris Paul seems to be the ultimate target. The Lakers could easily agree to a trade deal with other teams. They will definitely have to get rid of some of their current players.

Kyle Kuzma will be the first to go. He is the most valuable trade asset LA has right now. But, young Kuzma hopes to sign a contract extension with the Lakers.

The Lakers aren’t really the ultimate shooting team. They ranked 21st in the NBA in terms of 3-point percentage. Now is the perfect time for LA to sign an elite 3-point shooter. NBC Sports reported that Washington Wizards Davis Bertans is a good option for the team.

“Wizards general manager Tommy Sheppard was sincere in his comments last month about his intentions to re-sign sharpshooting forward Davis Bertans this summer, but that hasn’t stopped teams from showing interest ahead of the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline. In addition to the Sixers, Hawks and Lakers, the Celtics and Nuggets have emerged as suitors for Bertans’ services, NBC Sports Washington has learned. Bertans, 27, has enjoyed a breakout season, averaging 15.4 points and 4.9 rebounds while shooting 43.4 percent from three on 8.6 attempts per game.”

Lakers to trade Kyle Kuzma for Davis Bertans

Bertans had a slow start to his basketball career, but he was great in Washington. He was averaging over 15 points a game while averaging 42% from three.

The talented player is a power forward but he plays off the bench. Bertans started four games in 2019-20 and was one of the best scorers Wachington had in the season. If LA can sign a player who can step in for Anthony Davis and start hitting threes, the team will benefit a lot.

Maybe LA will ship Kuzma to Washington in order to get Bertans. He is what Vogel wants Kuzma to be. This deal makes perfect sense.
