Marc Gasol Pinpoints Main Reason He Picked Lakers Over Raptors

Marc Gasol had a big reason to join the Los Angeles Lakers this offseason. He decided to go to LA instead of staying with the Toronto Raptors. Gasol didn’t stay with his team and signed with LeBron James’ Lakers. The talented player packed his backs and grabbed his chance to win his second ring.

Gasol spent most of his NBA career with the Memphis Grizzlies. He played with veterans Mike Conley and Tony Allen. The team played in the Western Conference playoffs but got eliminated by stronger opponents.

Memphis traded Gasol to the Toronto Raptors in the 2018-19 season. He was traded for Jonas Valanciunas, C.J. Miles, Delon Wright, and a future second-round pick. They made the NBA Finals and fought against Kevin Durant and Klay Thompson from the Golden State Warriors. Thompson suffered a terrible injury, and Durant had the same destiny.

Toronto won the first championship in team history. Kawhi Leonard and Gasol had big roles on the floor. In 2019-20, the Raptors couldn’t defend their title as they lost the series to the Boston Celtics in seven games in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Marc Gasol has a good reason to sign with the Lakers

The Raptors won’t go after a title in the near future. Gasol decided to leave the team and go for his ring. Truth is, Gasol has a bigger chance to win a ring with the Lakers. That’s why he decided to go with the Lakers this season. Gasol agreed to sign a two-year deal worth $5.25 million. He will play with LeBron, Anthony Davis, Dennis Schroder, Wesley Matthews, Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, Kyle Kuzma and other talented players. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel will be super busy this season. He will be working with a talented group of players and winning a title seems like a realistic scenario right now.

The Los Angeles Lakers have a good chance to win back-to-back titles. LeBron will be leading the way for the team, and Vogel trusts him. Hopefully, players will be able to stay healthy and compete for their ring.
