New England Patriots Trade For Dolphins WR

The New England Patriots were expected to make a big move ahead of deadline day. However, fans hoped to see a different scenario. New England had to solve a few problems in their key positions. This time they addressed their receiving unit. According to Adam Schefter from ESPN, the Patriots agreed to a trade deal with the Miami Dolphins and got a third-year WR.

Wide receiver Isaiah Ford is making his way to Foxboro.

Ford had 18 receptions for 184 yards in seven games with the team. He is 24, and NFL analysts sort of like his talent. The wide receiver had a higher share of snap counts and targets in the first few contests of the year. Both his numbers saw a drop in the last few games. In other words, Ford seems like an expendable player.

Patriots trade for a Dolphins WR for a reason

New England definitely needs a boost at wide receiver.

Veteran wideout Julian Edelman underwent a procedure to treat his knee issue. The Patriots placed him on injured reserve and may lose  some time on the field. Second-year wideout N’Keal Harry missed Sunday’s game due to a concussion. New England has yet to make a decision regarding his status for Week 9. The team really needs to add some talent to the receiving unit.

There are too many injuries in the Patriots locker room, but the team almost won the Week 8 game against the Buffalo Bills. Patriots players could definitely win the game if it wasn’t for Cam Newton’s fumble at the end of the fourth quarter. New England has a 2-5 record at this point of the season, and this Patriots team doesn’t really fit inside the AFC Playoff picture.

Is Ford the right player to join the Patriots? Will the team be able to trust Ford and give him a bigger role? There are too many injuries on the field right now, and Belichick needs all the help we can get.

Belichick may be going after other wide receivers at the moment. His team needs that. Players need to break the losing streak and win Week 9.
