Patriots Players React To ‘Tsunami’ Weather In Win Over Ravens

The New England Patriots were brilliant in the game against the Baltimore Ravens, but the weather was pretty awful. Ravens players arrived at Gillette Stadium with a 6-2 record, ready to defeat Bill Belichick’s team. Mother Nature had something to say about this.

Ravens players tried to win a game while being pounded by heavy rain and strong winds. Let’s not forget that the biblical downpour begun at the very same moment Lamar Jackson and his offense took the field with 65 seconds left. They traveled 83 yards without any timeouts.

Officials flagged Baltimore for holding on first down and players never recovered. Patriots rookie Kyle Dugger tackled J.K. Dobbins in bounds on third down, and Dobbins dropped his pass on a fourth down.

What happened next? Teams left the field, and the winds slowed.

“I think when I was in college, I might have played in the rain once, and it never even compared to (Sunday night),” said running back Damien Harris. “I’ve always been like, ‘I don’t want to play in the rain.’ It’s just not my thing. I’ve never really had a reason to want to play in the rain. Some guys love that stuff, but I’ve always been kind of one of those guys. I prefer it to be, like, 65 and sunny. But being out there in that atmosphere and being a part of this team in such a special moment, including the weather.”

Patriots players won in a bad weather

Patriots linebacker Chase Winovich embraced the whole situation.

“At first, you kind of resist the rain in a sense, where it’s like, OK, I’m going to try to stay dry enough that I tackle and your shoes don’t get soaking wet. But after a while, after enough rain, it’s just a matter of taking the approach (of): this is exactly how I want it to go. I want it to pour. I want it to be freezing cold.

“If you take your attitude and your opponent doesn’t, that gives you an edge. And if you take that attitude, that kind of infectious, I think, to your other teammates. So it was great. Playing in the rain was fun.”

Wide receiver Jakobi Meyers had a double-pass touchdown to give the Patriots a good lead. He sure was surprised by the whole situation.

Newton had great words for center David Andrews and his ability to provide accurate snaps.

According to cornerback JC Jackson, the Patriots are “built” for this game. The weather has nothing to do with this. The Patriots looked and played well on the floor and that’s the only thing that matters.
