Report: Lakers Agree in Principle on Deal to Acquire Thunder Star

The Los Angeles Lakers may agree to a deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder. The team plans to rebuild the roster, and they definitely need a third superstar behind LeBron James and Anthony Davis. Initial reports suggest that the Lakers are interested in getting Oklahoma City Thunder veteran guard Dennis Schroder. An hour later, sources provided an update.

According to latest reports, they have reached an agreement.

Adding Schroder is definitely a good move. He is a talented player who can score at a high and efficient clip. Schroder was averaging 18.9 points per game on 46.9 percent from the field this past season. His stats show that he also shot 38.5 percent from deep.

Lakers to sign a deal with the Thunder

The Lakers won the title in Orlando and they are pretty serious about the upcoming season. The defending champions will do their best to win the next championship. Rob Pelinka and other members of the front office are going after another big name in order to keep their spot in the Western Conference. LeBron and Davis put the team on top of the West, and the team clinched the spot in Orlando.

NBA trade season opens up on Monday. The Lakers may finish their deal in the next couple of days.

Schroder is a good fit for the Lakers. He is versatile, impactful guard, capable of creating plays for himself and his teammates. Schroder saw action in 65 regular season games for the Oklahoma City Thunder last season. In addition to his 18.9 points, Schroder was also averaging 4 assists and 3.6 rebounds per game. He had solid play off of the bench, and this made him the runner-up for NBA’s Sixth Man of the Year Award. Los Angeles Clippers big man Montrezl Harrell won it.

The Lakers may lose veteran guard Rajon Rondo in free agency. This will probably motivate them to add Schroder. He may get a similar role to the one Rondo had.

Let’s not forget that the Lakers were interested in getting Schroder prior to the trade deadline in February.
