Report: Lakers Are Considering Trading Veteran Player To Land Marc Gasol

The Los Angeles Lakers won’t waste their time doing nothing. Lakers General Manager Rob Pelinka got Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell, and he is expected to get a few more players by the end of the offseason. The team traded Danny Green to the Oklahoma City Thunder to get Schroder. It looks like Green won’t be the only veteran to leave the Lakers. There have been several rumors related to the Lakers roster, and the team may be trading another veteran these days.

The defending champions did an incredible job inside the Orlando bubble. Winning a title feels great, and the Lakers will probably try to replicate the performance and defend their title.

Raptors center Marc Gasol is a target now. He wasn’t the first option for Toronto in the past couple of seasons, but the team relied on his veteran experience. Gasol is a talented three-point shooter, and Toronto used this feature to win more games.

Los Angeles will go after Gasol in order to boost the roster. But, getting Gasol won’t be easy, and the team will have to get rid of at least one veteran to get him. Gasol would ask for a big price, and LA has to make a competitive offer.

Lakers front office may be trading a talented veteran

Marc Stein of the New York Times reported that the Lakers will try to trade away JaVale McGee in order to free more salary cap and get Gasol. This would give the team enough money to sign Gasol in the offseason.

McGee had a big role in the Lakers postseason run. He joined the starting lineup in 68 games and averaged 6.6 points and 5.7 rebounds per game. McGee had a support role alongside big man Anthony Davis. Well, he didn’t really see much action in the second half of the games.

The Lakers front office will make a few more moves this offseason, and they need to get the right players for LeBron James and the other players. LA players relied on strong chemistry in 2019-20 and they will have the same energy in the upcoming season.
