Report: Lakers Could Soon Add a New Underrated Scoring Threat

The Los Angeles Lakers were the biggest threat NBA teams had in the 2019-20 season and they will definitely keep the reputation in the upcoming season. LeBron James and Anthony Davis were two dominant forces on the field this past season. But, these two could definitely use another shooter.

LeBron’s team has been part of so many rumors this offseason. Some of them have linked the Lakers to Chris Paul. Others believe that LA should get an underrated shooter.

Washington Wizards forward Davis Bertans.

The Lakers could use another scoring threat

The Indiana Pacers have selected Davis Bertans in the 2011 NBA Draft. However, the team traded his draft rights to the San Antonio Spurs. Bertans continued to play overseas and joined the NBA family in the 2016-17 season.

The talented shooter played for the Spurs from 2016-17 through 2018-19. He was a great role player. Bertans averaged 4.5 points per game in 12.1 minutes per game in 2016-17. He averaged 5.9 points per game in 14.1 minutes in 2017-18. The talented player had a big role for San Antonio in 2018-19 and averaged eight points and 3.5 rebounds in 21.5 minutes per game.

Bertans has improved a lot, but the Spurs traded him to the Washington Wizards prior to the 2019-20 season. It was his breakout season. Bertans averaged 15.4 points per game and had 4.5 rebounds as well. He became an excellent 3-point shooter and NBA analysts recorded his 8.7 attempts per game from long range. Guess what? Talented Betans made 42.4% of these shots.

The 3-point shooter had six games where he scored at least 25 points. In the game against the Charlotte Hornets, he hit 35 while making 8-of-12 attempts from 3-point range.

NBC Sports reported that Bertans will become an unrestricted free agent this offseason. But, the Wizards will try their best to re-sign him.

According to the report, several NBA teams have prepared some sign-and-trade offers for Bertans and the Wizards. We don’t have any names right now, but we do know that Bertans has attracted the attention of two Eastern and one Western Conference team.
