Report: Lakers Have Spoken With Dynamic PF & High-Scoring PG

The Los Angeles Lakers may be interested in many players, and most of them are guards with a great shooting ability. In other words, the Lakers will probably try to get a sharpshooter. NBA analysts have linked the team to other playmakers. Will the Lakers get a PG?

Ohm Youngmisuk reported that the Lakers have contacted BYU power forward Yoeli Childs.

Lakers and Clippers interviewed second-round prospect Yoeli Childs according to a source. The 6-8 BYU power forward averaged 22.2 points, 9.0 rebounds and 48.9% shooting from 3. He recorded a 38.5 vertical at the combine and was a Karl Malone power forward of the year finalist.”

Childs was named First-Team All-WCC three times and was one of the best power forwards in college basketball. From what we can see, he can be a second-round pick. LA only holds a first-round pick this season. they may rach and take Childs with the 28th pick or they may trade back into the second round of the draft.

The Lakers may get another PG

JD Shaw of Hoops Rumors reported that the Lakers have also spoken with Charleston Cougars point guard Grant Willer. The talented player is a good fit for the Lakers. Head coach Frank Vogel is a point guard who averaged 21.9 points per game each of the last two years.

Willer may not be the best 3-point shooter. He averaged 36% from the arc in his four years in college. NBA analysts would agree that this is not the best option for the Lakers. The team really needs a great 3-point shooter. Willer may be a player who can score and make his own shots. LA can use a scoring guard to come off the bench.

Childs may be available for the team, but this doesn’t apply to Willer. Rookie Wire selected him with the 22nd pick by the Philadelphia 76ers. This puts him out of the running for Los Angeles. It may be just a mock draft, but it sure emphasizes the fact that Willer is off the board by the time LA selects.

Rajon Rondo may leave the team and he may not be that great in the next playoffs. The Lakers can definitely use a young guard.
