Report: NBA Is Deciding Between 2 Season Options

There is a report coming out that the NBA is deciding between 2 different season options. The NBA season seemed like it lasted forever this year. In fact, it did last much longer than usual due to the COVID situation around the world. The NBA had to postpone the season for several months in March. They restarted in July in a bubble format.

The Los Angeles Lakers took advantage of this and played great in the Orlando bubble. But it was not all easy for the team. They had to stay in the bubble for almost 4 months. The teams that did well had to stay the longest. LeBron talked about this.

“I am here for one reason and one reason only, and that’s to compete for a championship,” James said. “And that was my mindset once I entered the bubble, once I entered the quarantine process the first two days. And then right from my first practice my mindset was to, if I’m going to be here, make the most of it and see what you can do and lock in on what the main thing is. And the main thing was for us to finish the season and compete for a championship.

“So that’s just been my mindset throughout these — I don’t even know how many days it is, whatever how many days it is, it feels like five years so it really doesn’t matter. I’ve been as locked in as I’ve ever been in my career.”

But next season is already in the horizon.

Adam Silver has not decided on a start date for the league’s 2020-21 season. There are several options available but it is definitely hard to come to a decision on such a weird set of circumstances.

The league was going to restart the next season around Christmas this year. This was not realistic though, as it would give most of the 2019-20 playoff teams just a month or two of rest. This isn’t really fair, especially for teams like the Heat and the Lakers. The NBA has also discussed starting next season in late-January of 2021.

What do you think the right time to restart is?
