Report: Patriots Add Veteran Receiver, Defensive Tackle Depth To Practice Squad

The New England Patriots are trying to fix some of the problems players deal with by adding more depth to their wide receiver and defensive tackle practice squad. Head coach Bill Belichick is all in when it comes to making roster changes. The team is dealing with too many problems right now. COVID-19 is still here, and some of the players struggle with nagging injuries. Veteran wideout Julian Edelman will miss some time on the field after undergoing a knee procedure. Stephon Gilmore has a knee issue as well, and N’Keal Harry suffered a concussion.

It’s more than obvious that the Patriots need help at the moment. The team has lost four straight games. Cam Newton has his own struggles, and the offense doesn’t look good at all. The same applies to the Patriots defense.

Patriots make changes to their practice squad

New England signed wide receiver Donte Moncrief and defensive tackle Ryan Glasgow to the practice unit a day after they dealt a 2022 conditional sixth-round selection to the Miami Dolphins for wide receiver Isaiah Ford and claimed defensive tackle Isaiah Mack off of waivers from the Tennessee Titans.

Moncrief joined the NFL in 2018 as a third-round selection out of Ole Miss. He was part of the New York Jets earlier this season and has spent time with the Indianapolis Colts, Jacksonville Jaguars, Pittsburgh Steelers, Carolina Panthers, and the Jets in the past couple of years.

The wideout measures at 6 feet 2, 216 pounds and has 204 career receptions for 2,561 yards with 21 touchdowns. He reached the top of his career in 2015 with the Colts. In that year, Mackrief was able to catch 64 passes for 733 yards and six touchdowns. In 2019, he caught four passes for 18 yards with the Panthers and Steelers and dropped four passes on 15 targets.

Glasgow entered the league as a fourth-round pick out of Michigan. He has played with the Cincinnati Bengals and the Houston Texans were the last team to have him this season.
