Report: Patriots Listening To Trade Offers For ‘Almost Everyone’ On Roster

There are reports that are coming out that the Patriots are listening to trade offers for ‘almost everyone’ on the roster. The Patriots are struggling to get back on track after a very poor showing so far this season. Cam Newton had the Patriots looking pretty good in the first couple weeks of the season. Sadly, since then, it has been all downhill.

The were devastated by positive COVID tests earlier this season. Since then, they have failed to get back on track. Cam Newton was the first to test positive. Bill Belichick recently talked about what the team was trying to do to get back on trak.

“Today’s an important day in our preparation for the rest of the season,” Belichick said. “We’ve had several days now of virtual meetings between the staff members and from the staff to the players. We’ve been able to cover a lot of things, but we haven’t spent any time together, so today’s our opportunity to do that. We look forward to that. One thing that we’ve learned this year repeatedly has been we have to be ready to adjust and adapt to changes and modifications and the way we do things and, in some cases, decisions that really come down to a very short amount of time that we have to be ready to adjust to.

“So we’re certainly taking things day by day — probably hour by hour would be more accurate. We’ll just see how we progress and then as we find out more on our end, or if there are other things externally that we can’t control that, then we’ll deal with those as they come. That’s the way it’s been all year. I think our team and our players have done a good job of handling those adjustments, and we’ll continue to do that.”

It does look like the Patriots are keeping things open. Have a look at what was said about them recently.

“This year was always going to be about turning the page—the Patriots are carrying nearly $30 million in dead money on their cap this year, and have held onto their draft picks for a reason,” Albert Breer wrote in his Monday Morning Quarterback column for Sports Illustrated. “They needed to clean up their financials. They still need to get younger. Sure, when Newton signed, the idea of what this year would be was clouded a little bit. But they’ve needed to clear the decks for a while.

“And now that they’re 2–5, and we know getting a win is going to be a fight every time going forward, it makes sense for the team to see what they can get for pricey, well-heeled vets like Stephon Gilmore, Joe Thuney, David Andrews and Lawrence Guy. Which, I’m told, they’ve already made an effort to do—telling teams they’ll listen to trade offers on almost everyone on the roster.”

Do you think they’ll be able to get anything good?
