Report: Patriots Made Decision on Julian Edelman For Week 11 Game Against Texans

The New England Patriots have been playing without some of their key players. Head coach Bill Belichick had to elevate players from the Patriots practice unit. He has also provided an update on veteran wideout Julian Edelman and his status for Week 11.

Edelman had been dealing with his knee injury for quite some time. He had to undergo surgery to fix it, and the team placed him on injured reserve. The 2018 Super Bowl MVP has missed three games, and it looks like he will miss some extra time.

When asked about Edelman’s ability, Belichick said his knee was improving. But, he didn’t say much about his potential return. Belichick shared the Patriots’ approach to testing players who are about to come off injured reserve.

“(We’ll) work towards that goal but not start it until we’re sure the player is ready to start,” Belichick said in a video conference. “So we’ll warm them up inside, see how they feel and put them through the part of their rehab and just see where they are, where we think they are, where they feel they are relative to starting the clock on them practicing. It’s just really a question of whether they’re ready or not, and is that today, is it tomorrow, is it next week. I’m not sure what the time frame is on that, but I think they’re all moving in the right direction and the decisions really on this, before we start the clock, we just want to make sure that they’re confident and we’re confident that they’re ready for participation in the next stage of their return to play.”

Julian Edelman to miss Week 11

Edelman will stay on the sidelines for another week. He didn’t join his teammates for practice this week. New England has yet to activate him. Players will show up for practice Friday, but we don’t really think that Edelman will join them.

The veteran wideout may be out of the game, but quarterback Cam Newton seems to be fine with his absence. He has created a nice relationship with second-year wideout Jakobi Meyers. The undrafted free agent has been playing really well in the last two games. Meyers may be a No.1 target for the team after all. He has the same approach as Edelman, and that’s more than great news for the team.
