Stephon Gilmore Hints Who He’ll Cover in Sunday’s Game vs Cardinals

Stephon Gilmore is ready to play in the Patriots’ game vs the Arizona Cardinals. Gilmore is the Defensive Player of the Year and he will be playing against DeAndre Hopkins. The latter is the league’s leading receiver at the moment. Both players will meet Sunday, and fans can’t wait to see more of their one-on-one action.

Gilmore appeared on Zolak & Bertrand and talked about it. “I think everybody knows,” he said when asked who he would be covering in the game.

The Patriots veteran cornerback has seen a slight decline in his regular season. He was brilliant in 2019 and that was his best season. When it comes to this season, Gilmore has 26 tackles and one interception with two passes defensed. Pro Football Focus gave him a 61.1 grade. Gilmore had recorded 20 passes defensed in each of the last two years while snatching eight total interceptions.

Stephon Gilmore is ready for the match vs Cardinals

Hopkins has had a good season with the Cardinals. The offseason trade to Arizona seems like a good thing. He has 72 receptions for 912 yards and four touchdowns. According to his stats, he is Kyler Murray’s favorite target. We bet this won’t change in the next few games. How will Gilmore handle the situation?

After allowing just one TD all season, the three-time Pro Bowler allowed Seattle Seahawks receiver DK Metcalf to hit the end zone in the Patriots’ second regular-season game. This is just a clear sign that he has regressed from 2019.

If Gilmore stays healthy for Sunday’s game, he may give Hopkins a good challenge. Gilmore has to find his motivation to do this. New England doesn’t really have a chance to make the playoffs. Gilmore and his team have to win the next six games in order to compete for the big award. The veteran cornerback is well aware of this and he will probably do his best to win the game. The Patriots have to win this game. Head coach Bill Belichick will prepare his players really well.
