Anthony Davis Shares His Side of Story on Nearly Teaming up With Paul George on Pacers

Los Angeles Lakers superstar Anthony Davis almost joined Paul George and the Indiana Pacers. George talked about the conversation he had with AD regarding their game with the Pacers. The Lakers big man didn’t sign with the franchise and George decided to go.

Following Lakers’ practice on Sunday, Davis shared his side of the story. It was a realistic scenario and Davis didn’t deny the connection.

“The Paul thing in Indiana, it was a conversation for sure,” Davis said. “It kind of just faded away. I’m not sure what happened on their end. He said that management didn’t want to do it whatever, but it was a conversation, and then LeBron [James] saying he wants to team up, then the year that we do we win a championship.

“LeBron kind of spoke it into existence, and it happened. Glad it happened for me for selfish reasons. I wanted to be a champion and able to do that my first year teaming up with him, but who knows what would’ve happened with Paul in Indiana.

“He’s another great player, especially when he was in Indiana he was definitely tough to guard. He’s still tough to guard today. But I think that was so long ago that we played each other many times since then. You always think about what could’ve happened. Would my career be a lot different than it is now?”

Anthony Davis didn’t join Paul George

Davis didn’t go to Indiana but he did join LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers. It was the best decision he has ever made. The Lakers won the 2019-20 NBA championship in Orlando and Davis got his first ring.

This wasn’t the only great thing that happened to Davis. He signed a five-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers. This secures his future with the storied franchise.

Davis would have been great in Indiana but there are no regrets now. The Pacers didn’t really have a chance to make the big game. Joining the Lakers was a good move and Davis did an incredible job.
