Avery Bradley Shares His True Feelings on Opting Out of NBA Bubble With Lakers

Avery Bradley decided to leave the Los Angeles Lakers this past season and was also opting out of the season resumption. Lakers fans were pretty shocked to hear that Bradley plans to opt-out of the Orlando bubble. He had to make this decision due to personal concerns. Sitting through the NBA Finals was hard for him, and the newly-acquired Miami Heat guard talked about this experience in his most recent interview.

Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel reported that Bradley was pretty nervous in Orlando. He didn’t miss a chance to call or text his teammates and was in constant communication with Lakers general manager Rob Pelinka.

“It was really hard for me. It was hard. Was tough . . . The championship game, my hands were sweating.”

Bradley opted out of the season restart to take care of his son. It was a big blow for the Lakers as Bradley had a key role with the team. He is a two-time selection on the NBA All-Defensive team. Bradley had a big role in the defensive-centric system Lakers head coach built on the floor. When it comes to his offensive game, Bradley has reliable shooting from deep and from the perimeter. He suited up for 49 games with the Lakers, averaging 8.6 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists across 24.2 minutes per game.

Avery Bradley was opting out but stayed close with his team

We didn’t hear much from Bradley during the postseason. However, every time the Lakers lost a game, fans took to social media to ask for Bradley to return. When the Lakers won the championship, people really wanted to see the veteran join the big celebration.

Bradley won’t join the Lakers in their bid for another title. The team has a real chance to make the top of the West and eventually won the 2021 championship. The Miami Heat offered him a two-year deal worth $11.6 million. Yes, he will be playing with the team LeBron James and his teammates defeated in six games.

In the upcoming 2020-21 NBA season, Bradley’s Heat will meet the Lakers on Feb. 20. Bradley is expected to get his ring before this meeting.
