Boston Sports Legend Has Harsh Words for Cam Newton and Colleague

The New England Patriots have to get used all the harsh words veteran Cam Newton has been receiving lately.  Newton has received an unfair share of criticism lately.

WEEI’s Dale Arnold and Jermaine Wiggins can’t really agree on Newton. The latter supports the Patriots quarterback, but Arnold is not really a fan.

Arnold is not someone who stays mom on things that matter to him. He called out Wiggins for his support of the Patriots starting quarterback. Oh that’s not all. Arnold also said Newton “sucked” and disrespected the player. There’s more. Arnold said Newton was “a notch above Tim Tebow.” How awful is that!

Let’s just say that Arnold was a little too hard on Newton. The veteran’s passing numbers aren’t really impressive. But, one can’t just focus on Newton’s passing yards and touchdown passes. He has had an excellent running game and much more. Head coach Bill Belichick got him for a reason. Even offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels said Newton did everything they asked him to.

Critics have harsh words for Cam Newton despite his leadership

Newton has had a positive impact on the Patriots. Fans praised his leadership and his presence in the locker room was more than notable. We should also add that Newton was a consistent red-zone threat while recording two 350-plus-yard passing games. Arnold criticizes Newton only when things go bad. We can’t really hear him say a thing when Newton helps the Patriots win games.

Arnold and some of his colleagues should take every aspect of the game. Maybe this will make them change their mind. Wiggins is one of the few colleagues Arnold has to stand by Newton.

New England has a big decision to make. For now, they will keep Newton under center. Head coach Bill Belichick didn’t even think of replacing Newton. Maybe he didn’t trust Jarrett Stidham and Brian Hoyer. In one occasion, McDaniels said Newton was the best option New England had this season.

Newton can’t carry all this criticism on his back. New England has problems with the receiving unit. He needed stronger weapons to do his job on the football field.
