Cam Newton Clarifies Portion Of Statement To Patriots Fans About Future

Veteran quarterback Cam Newton would gladly stay with the New England Patriots in the near future. He definitely sounds like someone who would play with the team in 2021.

The veteran took to his Instagram account to deliver a message following the Patriots’ elimination from the playoffs.

“Dear Patriots Nation,” he wrote. “I will be the first to tell you that this year has been unacceptable in more ways than one !! And the standard has been and always will be set; and unfortunately we (I) did not live up to what that standard was at all times or consistently enough !!

“With that being said the answers are in the locker room and one thing I do know about this bunch is that this locker room is filled with guys who want to be a part of the solution including me !!

“All things considered, you will not see any finger pointing or excuse making but more accountability being placed on the guys (me) to get the job done !! I think I speak for myself and others when I say CHALLENGE ACCEPTED !!”

The locker room part of Newton’s statement caught everyone’s attention. The 2015 NFL MVP decided to offer an explanation for his statement.

“I think the biggest thing is I’m just trying to maximize on the things that I know I have to prove,” he said Wednesday. “And that’s starting with Monday. That’s simple. I play this game for one reason, and that’s just to win. And we have an opportunity to win on Monday. Let’s just see how that goes.”

Bill Belichick is uncertain about Cam Newton and his Patriots future

Newton signed a one-year deal with the team in July. Second-year quarterback Jarrett Stidham is the only quarterback under contract with the Patriots. We don’t really know if head coach Bill Belichick would keep Newton under center.

The veteran has completed 65.9 percent of his passes for 2,381 yards with five touchdowns and 10 interceptions with 489 rushing yards and 11 touchdowns on the ground. Newton missed Week 4 against the Kansas City Chiefs.

Newton had his struggles on the field but most experts blame offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels for the approach he took in 2020. The Patriots starting quarterback has enough talent to lead the Patriots. He has so much to offer and his running game really helped the team.
