Cam Newton disappointed following the Patriots failure to make the playoffs

This loss put an end to our hopes. Patriots fans will have to watch the playoffs on TV. Coach Belichick won’t lead his team in the preseason for the first time since 2008. Veteran quarterback Tom Brady tore his ACL that season and the Patriots failed to play the big game.

Newton stepped in as a replacement for the GOAT. His first season with the Patriots didn’t go well. Will this be his last season as a Patriot? In Sunday’s loss to Miami, Newton had just 247 yards against the opponents. Patriots players couldn’t find the end zone. Nick Folk kicked four field goals in the terrible loss.

Following the game, Newton talked to media members about the playoffs. He was more than disappointed. It was definitely a toucgh season for the talented quarterback.

“It’s frustrating but I don’t want to dwell on what’s the obvious,” he said. “This whole season has kind of been the tale of just coming up a tad bit short.”

Newton signed a one-year deal with the Patriots as he wanted a chance to boost his career. He wanted to prove anyone that he could still win in the league. Well, the 31-year-old had his struggles throughout the entire season. It wasn’t his fault though. COVID-19 did its thing and the Patriots’ offense struggled. NFL experts admit that Newton’s problems came in the air this season. He threw for just 2,172 yards and five touchdowns with 10 interceptions. He is an elite quarterback, but he is not someone who moves the ball through the air.

The Buffalo Bills clinched the AFC East title this weekend. Miami have two games left on the schedule and a 9-5 record. Coach Belichick and his team have so much to do this offseason.
