Former Patriots RB Announces Retirement

One of the best running backs the New England Patriots have ever had decided to retire. The Patriots RB announced his retirement, and his former teammates had nothing but words of praise.

LeGarrette Blount played 49 games in four seasons with the Patriots. He took to his Instagram to announce his retirement. Blount hasn’t played since 2018 with the Detroit Lions. He is 34, and played for five different teams.

The talented running back was pretty emotional and he was definitely grateful for the chances he was given throughout his career.

“What’s good everyone?” Blount wrote. “I just want to inform y’all that I’m officially retiring. I have thought long and hard about this decision, and I’ve talked to my closest family members and friends about this. We collectively agreed on this decision. It is in the best interest of me and my family. I gave everything I had to the game, my teammates, and my coaches. I want to show my appreciation to the organizations that believed in me enough to give me a real shot.”

Former Patriots RB didn’t surprise fans with his retirement

As mentioned before, the Patriots had Blount in the locker room for four years. He made some really great friends and the Patriots used the best of him. Blount made great memories during his time in New England and playing under head coach Bill Belichick sure means a thing.

Blount played alongside former Patriots quarterback Tom Brady and won two Super Bowls. He was happy with his family, and his success with the team actually opened a lot of doors for him.”

Blount played in New England more than any other NFL team. He carried the ball 677 times for 2,917 yards and 34 touchdowns. He will retire with three rings on his hands. Two of the championship wins came with the Patriots and one with the Philadelphia Eagles.
