Frank Vogel Reveals How He’ll Use LeBron James During First Few Weeks of Season

The Los Angeles Lakers lost the season opener against their city rivals. Lakers players will try to win back-to-back titles, and NBA experts have so many questions regarding the roster. General Manager Rob Pelinka packed the roster with talent. However, some players had hard time finding the right rhythm on the floor. Lakers head coach Frank Vogel will have to find the right way to use four-time NBA champion LeBron James.

How will the Lakers use LeBron? He will turn 36 on Dec. 30 and had the shortest offseason in NBA history. Vogel addressed the topic during his video conference with the media. He also shared an outline of how he will use King James in the first few weeks of the season.

“We want to just back down his minutes as much as possible,” said Vogel. “The risk of peeling back his minutes too much is, talking to our medical team, you want to just keep him in rhythm as much as possible. If he’s out there for long stretches, that’s when it becomes riskier, or if he’s on the bench for too long of a stretch and has to come back in cold, that’s one of the risky situations. So we have a rotation built in for him where he plays more short bursts, gets shorter rest, and it stays with him because it what his body’s used to.”

LeBron has more mileage on him than any other player of the same age in the NBA. He made twn trips to the NBA finals.

LA had the shortest offseason in team history and LeBron will need load management to stay healthy and strong. He will probably have some games off, and some experts believe that Vogel will cut his minutes.

Anthony Davis signed his contract extension with the team, and LeBron will also see some help from Dennis Schroder and Montrezl Harrell. LA has tons of talent and Vogel has to find the right way to use it. LeBron will get his resting time and do his magic on the basketball court. Winning another ring? Why not?
