Josh McDaniels Generating ‘Buzz’ As Head Coaching Candidate

NFL fans better get ready for another wave of rumors. New England Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels is on top of the list, and he is part of another head coaching rumor. Pretty much every NFL season, we hear stories of McDaniels leaving New England to become a head coach with another team. A few seasons ago, analysts linked him to the Indianapolis Colts. Last season, many thought he would become a head coach with the Cleveland Browns.

Is the 44-year-old ready to leave head coach Bill Belichick and the Patriots? According to Albert Breer from Sports Illustrated, McDaniels is on his way out. He may join the Los Angeles Chargers and become their head coach. Here’s what Breer wrote in his Monday Morning Quarterback column:

“Patriots offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels: He, Raheem Morris, and Jim Caldwell are the three retreads garnering early buzz. The idea of McDaniels landing with the Chargers makes sense for reasons we laid out in last week’s mailbag. Also, at 45, I think McDaniels is ready to take his second shot, even if that second shot isn’t perfect.”

Josh McDaniels to take the head coaching job in LA?

Los Angeles is packed with talented players. Quarterback Justin Herbert is already a star. In other words, the Chargers are definitely an option for McDaniels.

The long-time Patriots offensive coordinator may leave the organization. Belichick didn’t want to give up on him. McDaniels is too valuable for the Patriots and their game. He has worked really well with veteran quarterback Cam Newton. He was also successful with Tom Brady. Yes, McDaniels is too valuable for New England, and Robert Kraft wouldn’t give up on him that easily.

When it comes to the current season, New England is coming off of a nice win against the Chargers. They lost several games in the regular season, but the 45-0 win was more than enough for doubters to stop talking about Belichick’s team. The Patriots have enough strength to make the playoffs, and McDaniels will be of great help in the process.
