Julian Edelman Returns To Practice, WR’s Projected Status For Game vs Dolphins Revealed

The New England Patriots had veteran wideout Julian Edelman on the practice field Wednesday and provided an update on his status for the game vs Miami Dolphins. Patriots players welcomed their teammate.

Edelman had his first practice since late October. New England has 21 days to activate him. Outside linebacker Shilique Calhoun practiced, too.

The veteran wideout missed the last seven games after undergoing a knee surgery. This injury limited Edelman throughout the entire season. In Week 2, Edelman was able to catch eight passes for 179 yards. However, he had just eight catches on 21 passes for 79 yards in the next four games. The Patriots placed him on injured reserve and then Edelman ended on the COVID-19/reserve list.

Patriots to make a decision on Julian Edelman and his status for the game against the Dolphins

According to head coach Bill Belichick, Edelman is day-to-day. He didn’t provide too much information on the wideout. Let’s just say that Belichick gave his typical Belichick answer.

“When he’s ready, we’ll start him,” the Patriots head coach said. “If he’s not ready, then he’ll keep working and we’ll wait until he’s ready.”

New England needs Edelman healthy. If he stays healthy, the Patriots could definitely use his skills and experience. The team has too many problems with the receiving unit. They relied on Damiere Byrd and Jakobi Meyers. Hopefully, Edelman will be of great help in the next few weeks.

Clahoun is a situational pass rusher and great special teamer. The Patriots placed him on injured reserve following the Week 9 win over the New York Jets. The talented player saw action in eight games, providing 14 tackles and two sacks. Edelman and Calhoun will be able to play Sunday against the Dolphins if added to the active roster.

New England had great attendance at Wednesday’s practice. It was an indoor practice, and media members weren’t allowed in the facility. Running back Damien Harris practiced after leaving the 24-3 loss to the Los Angeles Rams due to a back injury. Harris is the leading rusher in New England. He stacked 691 yards and two touchdowns in 10 games while averaging 5.0 yards per carry.
