Jim McBride from The Boston Globe reported that the Patriots won’t activate Edelman off injured reserve ahead of their game against Miami. Shilique Calhoun will be activated for the game. This is a really big hit for the Patriots’ offense. The group was dealing with big issues throughout the season. Edelman’s absence made everything even worse.

New England has 21 days to activate Edelman off injured reserve with his return to the practice field.

The Patriots look to play the role of spoilers against Miami, and players really hoped to see Edelman back on the field. The team didn’t release any update on his status for the game, but it’s all clear now. Edelman is not playing.

The veteran wideout sure knows how to stir the pot. He took to his Instagram account to deliver a big message regarding his role with the team. Patriots players could really use his receiving talents. Truth is, no other receiver on the roster knows the team’s offensive system like Edelman.

In 2020, Edelman stacked 21 catches for 315 yards. He had the chance to boost these numbers. Unfortunately, Sunday’s game is not an option for the wideout. The Super Bowl MVP will spend some more time on injured reserve.
